Abstract

The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into decision-making processes has transformed organizational operations, policy development, and strategic planning across multiple domains. While AI offers the potential to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability, it also raises critical ethical and accountability challenges. This paper explores the dynamics of human–AI collaboration in decision making, emphasizing the need to balance automated insights with human judgment and ethical responsibility. Through a comprehensive literature review, case study analysis, and examination of contemporary AI applications, the study identifies key factors influencing effective collaboration, including transparency, interpretability, trust, and accountability. The findings indicate that optimal decision-making outcomes are achieved when AI serves as an assistive tool rather than a fully autonomous agent, allowing humans to exercise ethical oversight, contextual understanding, and strategic judgment. Recommendations for designing human-centered AI systems and governance frameworks are discussed to ensure responsible and effective integration of AI in decision-making contexts.
