Digital media has become a central component of public relations practices within government institutions, enabling organizations to communicate directly with citizens, disseminate information rapidly, manage public perceptions, and strengthen institutional transparency. In Saudi Arabia, the expansion of digital government services and the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 have encouraged public institutions to adopt social media platforms, digital content strategies, online engagement tools, and data-driven communication practices. This study evaluates the effectiveness of digital media strategies in supporting public relations performance within Saudi government institutions. It examines the influence of strategic digital content, audience engagement, platform management, digital crisis communication, and performance measurement on the overall effectiveness of governmental public relations. A quantitative research approach was adopted using a structured questionnaire distributed among public relations, media, communication, and digital content professionals working in selected Saudi government institutions. Descriptive and inferential statistical methods were employed to assess digital media practices and examine the relationships between digital media strategies and public relations performance. The findings indicate that government institutions implementing well-planned digital communication strategies achieve stronger audience engagement, faster information dissemination, improved institutional visibility, and greater responsiveness to citizens’ needs. The results further demonstrate that interactive content, continuous platform monitoring, professional crisis communication, and the use of digital analytics contribute significantly to strengthening public trust and improving communication effectiveness. The study concludes that integrating digital media into institutional public relations strategies can enhance transparency, responsiveness, stakeholder relationships, and organizational reputation. It recommends developing comprehensive digital communication policies, investing in professional training, strengthening content governance, and expanding the use of analytics and artificial intelligence to support evidence-based communication decisions. These findings provide practical guidance for government communication leaders seeking to improve public relations performance and advance digital transformation within Saudi public institutions.
